Themed Residencies and Creative Sabbaticals at Ragdale

Ragdale welcomes and encourages emerging and professional artists and arts administrators use of the historic Ragdale estate by offering three- to six-day Themed Residencies and Creative Sabbaticals. Participants are provided with the time and space to work on projects in an idyllic retreat setting. Themed Residencies and Creative Sabbaticals are scheduled outside of Ragdale’s juried 18-day residency sessions.

Themed Residencies

A Themed Residency offers sanctuary to groups of emerging to established artists, as well as arts administrators and advocates in up to 12 sleeping rooms at the historic Ragdale Estate. A Themed Residency offers groups a collaborative space to gather, create, share, and hold meetings or conferences. Themed Residencies may be booked for either three- or six-day sessions, based on availability.

Examples of Themed Residency groups include members of dance, theater, and performance companies; writing groups; visual artists groups; and arts administrators. As with all residencies offered, Ragdale encourages exploration and experimental use of time spent together in a retreat setting.

Catering from outside vendors is allowed and is to be coordinated by the group, with support from Ragdale staff. Chef services for groups of five or more are available at an additional cost upon request.

Creative Sabbaticals

Creative Sabbaticals are offered as three- or six-day residencies for individual artists working in any discipline. Designed for individual artists, curators, designers, arts administrators, and others in the creative field, these stays allow artists to engage in important projects that would benefit from the unique setting and facilities Ragdale offers.

Please note that chef services are not available for Creative Sabbaticals.
