Visual Art

I am a Chicago artist whose 50-year art career art has focused on sculpture and drawing. Since 2004 I have used up-cycled plastics in my sculpture and as inspiration for my drawings. Recently I have also been making “plastic paintings” made from waste consumer packaging material. My art works shed light on the environmental devastation caused by our culture of consumerism.
I have shown locally and nationally. My most recent solo exhibition, “What We Leave Behind,” was a survey of works from 2018-2024 at OS Projects, Racine WI. I received a 2022 Puffin Foundation grant, Illinois Arts Council grants in 2021, 2021, 1985, 1982, and 1980 and an Artist Grant from Chicago’s Dept. of Cultural Affairs in 2019. My residencies include the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Artscape Toronto Island and Ragdale.
