When not at her writing desk, Quincy Gray McMichael stewards her farm, Vernal Vibe Rise, on Moneton ancestral land in the mountains of West Virginia. Her writing—creative nonfiction and poetry—has appeared in the pages of Salon, Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies, Appalachian Review, Yes! Magazine, Still: The Journal, Chautauqua, and many others.
Quincy earned an MFA from the Naslund-Mann School of Writing at Spalding University, is a Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellow, and serves as Contributing Editor at Good River Review. Her lyric prose has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
Quincy continues to revise her hybrid memoir “The Unsustainable Farm,” which explores obsession and overwork through a blend of poetry and prose, as well as “Without Child,” a memoir-in-verse about grief, intimacy, and family (shortlisted for the 2023 Steel Toe Books Prize).
