Jac Jemc teaches creative writing at UC San Diego and is a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow. She is the author of three novels and two collections of stories. Her most recent novel Empty Theatre (MCD x FSG 2023) received starred reviews in Kirkus and Booklist and was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition and named a finalist for the California Book Award. Her story collection False Bingo (MCD x FSG Originals 2019) won the Chicago Review of Books Award for fiction, and was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Speculative Fiction and longlisted for The Story Prize. Jac also directs the Clarion Writers' Workshop for speculative writing.
