Hannah Penrose Thurman is a Brooklyn-based writer originally from Raleigh, NC. Her debut novel, Deeds in the Body, is forthcoming from Doubleday in 2026. She was recently named a 2024 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Fiction. The winner of the Florida Review's 2023 Editor's Prize for Fiction, her short stories have been published in The Iowa Review, The Michigan Quarterly Review, The Southern Indiana Review, The Brooklyn Rail, Meridian, and others. She has been chosen for residencies and workshops at Yaddo, Ragdale, VCCA, Vermont Studio Center, and Bread Loaf.
